A Typical Day

Arrival:
Your child arrives in the morning or afternoon greeted with a warm smile by one of our staff members.
Cloakroom:
Once inside the school your child goes into the cloakroom (where they are supervised by another staff member) and encouraged to hang up their coat and get ready for the classroom on their own or with the help of a friend or staff member. Once your child is ready for the classroom they will walk to the classroom door and knock on it . Our Montessori Directress will open the door and greet your child with a smile and invite them to come into the classroom where they will shake hands and have a small conversation.
Classroom (A.M.):
Inside the classroom your child will have many different specialized Montessori activities to choose from, all on low child sized shelves.
They might want to practice how to tie bows or paint a watercolour picture. Then maybe they will have an organic snack break followed by a story. There would be many different possibilities from singing songs, practicing math, geography, botany and music to writing stories, playing French games and just having social time with a friend.
All of these choices promotes positive self esteem, higher concentration levels and an environment tailored to the needs and interests of your child!
Lunch:
There are two options for lunch 1. Bringing a packed nut free lunch from home
2. Taking part in our hot lunch program.
At lunch time the children get ready by washing their hands as the teacher cleans all of the tables. They sit down and eat lunch all together at their child sized tables while wonderful music plays in the background.
Recess:
What child doesn’t need a break to just run around in the middle of the day? The children go outside after eating lunch and have some time 
for imaginative play, running around and also purposeful Montessori activities.
Our recess time happens regardless of extreme weather conditions as we have direct access to both our outside playground and to our wonderful large gymnasium!
Cloakroom:
After recess it’s time for the cloakroom again. Another opportunity for your child to practice their independence by unzipping zippers, tying up shoes and helping their peers.
Classroom (P.M):
Once again time to go off to work with the Montessori activities. What will they choose this afternoon? Perhaps they will choose writing numbers or letters on the chalkboard or maybe working with fractions.
At some point in the afternoon your child will be offered a cot to lye down on and take a rest or a cat nap after all it’s been a busy day!
After their quiet time they might want another snack, a story or two and some songs. All of a sudden it will be time to go!
After school/Pick up:
Once out of the classroom your child will once again tackle buttons zippers and bow tying out in the cloakroom. It wont take long before they are experts! After getting ready they will once again go outside (weather permitting) and play until you come to get them. You may come to pick up your child anytime between 3:45pm and 4:30pm.
